About Kate

Mary Kate Burgess discovered her love of photography through the various pages of Vogue, Vanity Fair, Time, and National Geographic. Determined to create images as powerful as the Greats, Kate then began fiddling with her camera, experimenting with her best friend Emma as a test dummy. This helped develop her own approach to photography, producing highly stylized, fashion-inspired photographs that made Emma harrass her to this day for more photoshoots.

She also began developing her photojournalism craft throughout the streets of Philadelphia, New York, Virginia, and Delaware to train her eye to see the beautiful moments in life that pass all too quickly. From there, she developed a unique approach of covering events, people, and things with a fashion-infused documentary style.

In 2006, she started developing Kate’s Lens, a photography business dedicated to making people feel like the stars they are and capturing the happiest moments of their lives for them to treasure in the years to come. Since then, the demand for her photography has increased immensely and she has won various awards for her art. Her photography has been featured in 55 Hours Weekly, exhibits, CD covers, various websites, and many other outlets around the Delaware Valley.

She is finishing up her last year for a BA in Media Design and Photography at Wilmington University and she has joined the ranks of professional photographers as a proud member of Professional Photographers of America since 2007.
